Jefferson County Football Trivia

Kentucky high School teams since 1959 have won state championships in a playoff system, capturing a class title (originally A, AA, AAA). However, different class champions may claim that they were the best team in the state. Prior to 1959 there was a champion based upon whatever system you may prefer, such as polls or mathematical formula. One such formula is the Lietkenhous Rating. Which Jefferson county school over the years has won the most Lietkenhous state titles. Extra credit: Which school or schools is second and third?

What's funny about using the LIT....this year, after all was said and done, Male would've brought home the title.

Yeah, quite true. You may want to start a thread on that topic. This thread, though, is " Which Jefferson county school over the years has won the most Lietkenhous state titles. Extra credit: Which school or schools is second and third?" Lets stay on point.

So we're talking about prior to 1959?

I'll take a stab:

1. Male

2. Manual

3. St. X

1) Male

2) Flaget

3T) Manual

3T) St X

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner. The numbers are as follows:

1) Male -6

2) Flaget -3

3T) Manual -2

3T) St X -2

To my knowledge these are the only Jefferson County schools to win a Lietkenhous Rating state championship. (Source: Steve Vesel's "The HISTORY of METRO LOUISVILLE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL"
