Who:  South Oldham Dragons vs. Grant County Braves

When:  Saturday, December 4, 2021

Where:  South Oldham HS, Crestwood, KY

Time:  Tipoff at 7:30 pm

Broadcast:  Free, live, high definition video coverage begins at 7 pm on www.pegasussportsky.com

Announcers:  Mike Montgomery and Todd Gilley

Last year:   Grant County edged South on 2/25/21 in Dry Ridge, 84-78 in overtime

The top five scorers for the Braves in that game return for this matchup, led by junior Dylan Hammonds, who scored 37 points and grabbed 17 rebounds that night.   Colton Scalf had 15 and Wayne Ziegler 11 for Grant.   Micah Wills and Spencer Breeden each added 8.

South Oldham's leading scorer from that exciting game, senior Cole Davis, also returns.    He had 27 points in the contest, which saw the Dragons hit a whopping 15 of 42 three pointers (35.7%).

Grant won the battle of the boards that night, 37-24, a major key to the Braves' win.

This will be the third game of the week for the Braves, who will have played two brutal contests to begin the year against Beechwood and Woodford County, two of the best teams in the 9th and 8th Regions, respectively.  It will be South Oldham's second game; the Dragons open on the road against Great Crossing on Thursday.

South has won 7 of the last 10 games between the two teams, dating back to 2003.   The Dragons have scored 72 points or more in the last 7 meetings.

Pegasus Sports goes on the air with the video coverage at 7 pm.   If you miss the live broadcast, the archive will be on our website for one year.

I'll post updates as I can!

In the gym in Crestwood, setting up.

This should be one of the better games in the 8th Region tonight.

South coming in hungry after a tough night at Great Crossing.   Sophomore reserve Christian Viers had a great game, though, scoring 21 points and hitting 9 of 12 shots, including 3 of 6 threes.   Point guard Cole Davis also had a good game, tallying 19 on 8 of 16 shooting, including 3 of 6 beyond the arc.

Grant is 1-1 after a 3 point win over Beechwood and a 3 point loss to Woodford.   Dylan Hammonds has, as expected, been a beast, with 27 points / 11 rebounds against Beechwood in the win and 30 points / 14 rebounds in the loss to the Jackets.    But Grant is struggling big-time from beyond the arc, and hitting just 50% of their free throws coming into this one.

South has won 7 of the last 10 meetings, but Grant won last year in OT.
