1st Region Week 2 review

Lots of interesting games in the 1st Region this week!  It will be interesting to see how these ranking shift over the next few weeks.

Team Rankings:

1. McCracken Co. (3-3) - Tuesday's home game against Tilghman was tight until the Mustangs pulled away in the last few minutes for a 74-56 win.  The Mustangs were led by Senior Noah Dumas who had 18 points and also did a stellar defensive job on Tilghman's senior Eli Brown.  The Mustangs finished the week with two close losses against teams from Evansville.  The Mustangs have an interesting game away at Marshall on Monday of this week.

2. Murray (4-1) - the Tigers won the All A Classic on Saturday with a 61-42 win over St. Mary.  Sophomore Grant Whitaker had 18 points in that win.  The Tigers have two key home games this week - Tuesday against Tilghman and a district matchup against Calloway on Friday.

3. Paducah Tilghman (3-1) - the Tornado was even with McCracken with six minutes left in the game until things fell apart.  PT bounced back by beating Fulton County on Friday and then defeated Graves 79-56.  Eli Brown had a nice bounce-back game with 27 points against the Eagles.  Two very tough away games this week for PT - Tuesday at Murray and Friday at Marshall.

4. Marshall Co. (2-2) - the Marshalls only had one game this week and Mr. Basketball contender Zion Harmon missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for a narrow loss 75-74 at Calloway.  Harmon had 33 points in that game.  This is a big week for the Marshalls with home games on Monday vs McCracken and Friday versus Tilghman.  Two very tough games and Harmon will need to come up big to get these wins.  

5. Graves Co. (2-2) - two wins and one loss for the Eagles this week.  They had an impressive 53-48 win at Calloway early in the week with Drew Hayden and John Brown leading the team in scoring.  They also had a 78-59 win over CCA.  On Saturday they went to Tilghman and lost 79-56.

6. Calloway Co. - a tough 53-48 loss to Graves was followed up by a very impressive home with against Marshall Co. on Friday.  Matthey Ray led the way in the game against the Marshalls with 23 points and 9 rebounds.  A huge district game at Murray is on Friday of this week.

7. St. Mary (2-3) - the Vikings got two wins in the All A Classic before losing to Murray 61-42 in the finals.  St. Mary beat Carlisle 69-36 and then had an impressive 61-59 win against Mayfield in the semis.  Parker McCauley scored 26 points against the Cardinals.  

8. Carlisle Co. (3-1) - the Comets had a 69-36 loss to St. Mary this week, but it was without their star Senior Blake Elder.  Upcoming on Friday is a key district clash at home against Hickman Co.

9. Mayfield (2-1) - the Cardinals beat Christian Fellowship 75-44 in their first game of the All A Classic, but then had a narrow loss to St. Mary 61-59.  They were led by DeAngelo Brooks with 20 points in the loss.

10. Hickman Co. (3-2) - the Falcons had a 71-43 win against Fulton Co. in which Jackson Midyett scored 24 points.  They then lost 77-36 to the eventual champion Murray.  This Friday's game at Carlisle will decide who is the frontrunner for the District 1 regular season.
