Garrard County 79 Berea 59

Good win by the Golden Lions tonight. Played good defense, especially in the first half, and put the ball in the basket very well. With a district game with Danville tomorrow, Coach Bolin got to rest several key players. One major injury with senior shooting guard Kent Johnson coming down with a bum ankle. Not sure about the severity.

Junior point guard Nate Ploskonka had sixteen points and sophomore forward Evan Preston had fourteen.

This Garrard team is much improved from last year. Tomorrow at Danville should be interesting.

I've seen Plasonka and was pretty impressed. When he got in foul trouble was when Garrard didn't play well.

Garrard is very young at the guard position. They have a sophomore point guard who hasn't played much and a shooting guard who plays some point when Ploskonka sits, but Nate is really what makes the offense go. He looks to push the ball and is always looking for the open man.

The biggest thing will be how the center Cody Ives plays against quality competition this season. He can dominate smaller guys, but how will he play against district and region competition? If he can hold his own, I really think this team can make a little noise in the 12th region.
