nWo Posted April 8, 2020 Share Posted April 8, 2020 110 PM EDT Wed Apr 8 2020 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northeast Kentucky Far southern Ohio Western Virginia Southern West Virginia * Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 110 PM until 800 PM EDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible SUMMARY...Widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to develop and move east-southeastward across the region this afternoon. Strong deep-layer shear and steep mid-level lapse rates will support some supercells and other organized clusters capable of severe hail and locally damaging winds. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles north northwest of Lexington KY to 25 miles northeast of Dublin VA. REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
