February 26, 20206 yr Reporter Tony Grossi's mouth got him into trouble again. While covering the NFL Combine, Tony Grossi did not realize he was on a hot mic while discussing the mistakes Cleveland has made in past drafts when they missed out on some pretty good quarterbacks like Carson Wenz, Watson, Mahomes, and now Burrow. Grossi went on to ask a question and provided the answer, "And who do we have? A [expletive] m____" a not-so-veiled reference to Baker Mayfield. ESPN Cleveland tweeted a statement saying they had immediately and indefinitely suspended Grossi for using a derogatory term that demeans Little People. In addition, they will "pursue sensitivity training for everyone on [their] content teams across the company." Grossi tweeted out an apology and pledged to become a better person. He apologized to Little People, Baker Mayfield, and his employer. ESPN Cleveland did not explain whether the derogatory comment was calling Little People the "M" word or comparing them to Baker Mayfield. :bag: This is the second time Grossi's mouth got him in trouble. He was fired from Cleveland.com in 2012 when he mistakenly sent out a tweet to all his followers (rather than only to a closed group) calling then-Brown's owner Randy Lerner, "a pathetic figure, the most irrelevant billionaire in the world" because, in Grossi's mind, Lerner was disengaged from decision making with the Browns when they were sinking to the lowest of the low in the NFL. Too bad, Tony was my favorite commentator and reporter when he was with Cleveland.com. He wrote with lots of insight, but at times he gets a burr under his saddle and becomes too negative. I wonder what will happen to his career.
