This will start out as rain showers; however, as colder air moves in overnight, rain showers will change over to snow showers. Warm ground temperatures will prevent much of the snow from sticking on main roads; however, some bridges and overpasses may see a brief coating for the Monday morning commute. In general, less than an inch of snowfall is expected in the valleys. Ridgetops could see up to two inches most places. For elevations greater than 1500 feet in southeastern Kentucky, 2 to 5 inches of snowfall will be possible with the highest amounts in the mountains near the Virginia border. This area will have a much greater likelihood of slick roads for the Monday morning commute. The snow showers will gradually taper off from west to east later Monday night.
