November 4, 20196 yr The European model is showing for the second day in a row the possibility of some accumulating snow for northern Kentucky. The precipitation should start out as all rain during the day on Thursday. Cold air is forecast to move into the Cincinnati/NKY area but Thursday evening. This could cause the rain to change over to freezing rain/snow by the time precipitation ends Thursday evening or early Friday morning. The 24 hr rainfall accumulation could show around an inch of rain for most of Kentucky. Along the Kentucky Tennessee border, those could receive 1+. Depending on how fast the cold air moves in the Cincinnati/NKY area could receive up to an inch of snow. Temperatures should range from the low to mid-20s on Friday morning. South of I-64 the morning lows look to be in the mid to upper 20s. Check back for updates tomorrow.
November 6, 20196 yr Author This will be a quick update. The models are somewhat of agreement about the possibility of some snow on Thursday. They are still different from the amount of accumulation. The NAM is coming in with the heaviest amounts but I think it is overdoing it some. The GFS and NAM 3KM are showing much less in possible accumulations. I will post a more detailed forecast later today. The European model is showing another chance for some possible snow on Monday.
November 7, 20196 yr Author As of this morning, it now seems that the rain field will move out of Kentucky before the cold temperatures move in from the northwest. Even though the NAM is still showing some snow accumulations. As I stated in one of my earlier posts I think the NAM is overdoing it. Temperatures this evening will be in the mid-30s across most of the state of Kentucky. As the cold air mass moves in later tonight temps will fall into the mid-20s by Friday morning.
November 8, 20196 yr Author Local stations are talking about snow chances here in WKY on Monday. It's possible that a good section of Kentucky could seem some snow accumulations by Tuesday morning.
