August 24, 20197 yr The Parapan American games started today in Lima, Peru. This is the Paralympic counterpart to the Pan American Games that took place a couple weeks ago. In wheelchair basketball, the Team USA men opened pool play with a 106-35 victory over Puerto Rico and the Team USA women cruised to a 92-10 victory over Chile. The main competition for both teams will be Team Canada who they will both likely face in the finals.
August 24, 20197 yr Author Does anyone rank the teams and if so where do our Men's and Women's teams rank? There are not any rankings that I am aware of but there are 2 main international competitions - the Paralympics and the World Wheelchair Basketball Championships. The men won the gold at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio and won the silver at the 2018 World Championships. Our coach who lives in Bellevue started for both of those teams but has since retired from international play. The women won the gold at the 2016 Paralympics but finished 5th at the 2018 World Championships. There is a livestream (which didn't work well today) that I'm going to try to post for future games.

August 26, 20197 yr Author Team USA men's wheelchair basketball team defeats an overmatched Peru squad 114-14 to improve to 2-0 in pool play.
August 26, 20197 yr Author Team USA men's wheelchair basketball team improves to 3-0 with an 87-47 win over Brazil.
August 27, 20197 yr Author Team USA men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams both finish undefeated in pool play and advance to the quarterfinals later this week. Both teams will need to finish in the top 2 to advance to the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
August 31, 20197 yr Author Team USA women lose in the championship to Canada 67-64 but will advance to the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo by finishing in the top 2. Team USA men will play Canada for the championship tomorrow night.

September 1, 20197 yr Author Team USA men’s wheelchair basketball teams wins gold with a 76-43 win over Canada.
