Not sure what the complete numbers were for AJ Hacker, but he was strong today. Through six innings, he had only surrendered two hits. He also carried the day at the plate with 4 RBIs.

 

This makes 31 wins in a row for the Vikings, now 39-3 on the year. Lawrence County closes out at 35-6, the most wins they've ever had in a single season. Great year for the Dawgs.

Most great teams have one or two (at the most) quality pitchers that they can give the ball to against great, state tournament caliber opposition and feel good about their chances of winning. Rowan legitimately has four different arms they can go with in any given game and feel confident they'll win. Hacker (0.55 ERA after today), Mason Moore (1.17), Matthew Gagliano (1.59), and Chase Alderman (0.68) have gotten it done all year. Hacker's a horse, no doubt, but Rowan has a very deep staff.

 

There's a lot of great stories to follow in this year's state tourney (Beechwood and Breckinridge come to mind). Rowan's win streak and pitching is definitely one of them.
