Hunting Deer Sheds

It is about time to hit the woods looking for sheds. Does anybody have any advice to improve your changes of finding some?

Check known bedding areas or in and around food sources . Another good place to look is fence crossings where the jarring of landing might pop them off . I have found most of mine turkey hunting in the spring . I got a couple buddies that have already found a few . Good luck in your search .

I found a really nice matching set Saturday. They were right at a fence crossing. I put them in a mount and came out to 126 inches.

 

I also found a dead head spike and a nice sized antler on a south facing slope.

 

I can’t wait to get back out there.

I’ve found a total of four sheds and a tiny dead head spike this year. I’m actually headed to the woods today to scout a new area. Maybe I’ll get lucky.

 

I’ve found tons of bones, and each time, I’ve thought they were going to be horns. Bummer.
