Bowling Green 49 Allen County-Scottsville 6

Featured Replies

The Purples had a much better effort in this rematch from Week Nine, when the Purples went to Scottsville and won 36-6. Senior WR Ryan Beard opened the scoring with a five yd toss from junior QB Trent Steelman with just under two minutes gone in the game. Senior K Casey Tinius (who will be playing for a state soccer championship tomorrow!) booted the PAT, and the Purples led 7-0. With 6:01 left in the first qtr, Anthony Davis hauled in a Steelman pass (I don't know the distance). Tinius was successful on the placement again, and the Purples led 14-0. With 3:19 left in the first qtr, junior TE Ryan Wallace caught a short six yd flip from Steelman, Tinius was successful again, and the Purples were up 21-0.

In the second qtr, senior RB Anthony Davis scored on a three yd run with 6:54 left in the qtr, and senior RB Avery Hibbitt scored from 11 yards out with 2:19 left before the half. Tinius made both PATs again, and the Purples took a 35-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

Junior Jared Carpenter started the second half off right when he took the opening kickoff back 75 yards for a score. The running clock kicked in at the 5:39 mark when senior RB Chris Johnson scored on a 13 yd run. Again, Tinius knocked both PATs through. AC-S finally got their first first downs in the fourth qtr and scored on a short pass. However, their 2pt conversion run attempt failed.

The Purples will host county rival Warren East next week. East, for the first time ever, beat Franklin-Simpson twice in a season AND won ten games in a season for the first time! Even with a loss to the Purples next week, it will tie their record for the fewest losses in a season (when they were 6-2-2 in 1973). The Raiders are only two points away from breaking the 500 point barrier for the first time. What a season for Ben Bruni's troops!

I'd like to congratulate the Patriots for their efforts this year. They went from a pathetic 2-8 last year to 6-5 and some respectability this year. Best of luck in 4A next season!

:D :D

Thanks Purple Haze, I'll be looking for you again next wekend for the weekly update.
