You dissin' SV by sittin' this one out, lol...

I think I saw the '87 Pikeville team play against Pineville in the playoffs.

If you saw them I promise you would remember them. Ive never forgotten the experience of getting to see them play. One word, Unstoppable.

I always wondered if that '87 team faced any adversity that year. Injuries, player spats etc. Ive always heard they were all good friends as well as great players and teammates. I guess they were the exception to the rule. My senior year at Belfry we had around 4-5 starters out come playoff time and it just caught up to us. More than likely we would have won it all but injuries are part of the game and so the story goes.

The only adversity they faced that I can remember only made therm hungry. That PCB game where Beechwood jumped out by 21 I think, Pikeville took over and made it 21-20 at the half. Then lightning ended the game and Beechwood would not stay and finish the game the next day. That made that PIkeville team very hungry for another chance to play Beechwood, which they got lol...

Remember that like it was yesterday. Quite a storm that night at the PCB.

3:41 left in the 3rd - Josh Mullins (backup RB) scores from six yards out.

Pikeville 44, Jenkins 0.

I was in Florida in '89; '88 was Tim Saylor's last year at Pineville so that was probably the game I remember. It was really cold that night and I wore my long johns! It was a great game, but Pikeville beat us by a touchdown, I think.

Anyone heard anything else out of the Paintsville/Hazard game?

That was 1988. Pineville actually got a score called back which could have tied the game late, or Pineville actually could have gone for 2 and the lead. One of those breaks I was talking about earlier.:thumb:

I'm getting ready to switch over to that game and give updates.

Closest game Pikeville had in 87 and 88 when they were 29-0 and won the championship both years...
