Not a pleasant night at Newport Stadium.

 

God knows they tried to play, but water got under the turf causing it to bubble up, which actually cancelled/postponed the ballgame, after a 50 minute delay.

 

Both teams warmed up in heavy rain. Earlier lightning had moved out of the area, and 10 minutes was put on the clock at 7:20pm. We were notified that the white hat would crank the clock and we would be underway. 20 more minutes expired and then a "summit meeting" at mid-field determined that there would be no football in Newport on this night.

 

I have not been notified if the game will be played, and if so when.

Brossart has a bye next week, but Newport has a game.
