5A Whitley County at 3A #4 Corbin

Two rivals from not too far apart face off in the season opener. Corbin returns a good bit from their 3A runners-up in 2017 but must replace their quarterback. Whitley County lost a lot on offense but returns quite a bit from a defense that was pretty solid last year. Can the Colonels pull the upset or are the Hounds too much?

I don't look for Whitley to be able to move the ball consistently against Corbin, as their defense should be good again, hopefully a little more disciplined than last year's though. Teams that had a balanced attack along with timely play calling hurt the Hounds last year.

 

Corbin's offense may take a few games to smooth out the kinks as they work several new skill players into the mix and the word is they plan on opening it up even more than before. Also, Whitley Co. is going to be good defensively and will give the Hounds all they want in this rivalry game.
