May 9, 20188 yr I'm issuing a Severe Weather Alert Day mainly because it seems that the best chance for a more organized severe weather event will after midnight. The Storm Prediction Center has downgraded the severe threat for most of Kentucky for today. The Cincinnati/NKY area is still in a Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe storms. The main threat look to be damaging winds, hail. A tornado or two can't be completely ruled out. The latest modeling data have scattered showers and storms firing up around mid-afternoon. Everyone should be alert because of the hot and humid conditions could cause these storms to go severe quickly without much warning. Here is the latest EHI information. It shows the conditions look to be favorable for severe weather to develop. My thinking as of this morning is that the more organized possible severe weather won't be until after around midnight and this looks to be mainly north of I-64. This is the latest radar simulation showing the timing of the storms. They should be through most of Kentucky by rush hour on Thursday morning. Please have some way of receiving severe weather information arranged before you go to bedtime as it seems that best chance for more organized severe weather will occur after most people go to sleep tonight. Take care and I will keep an eye on the situation and post updates whenever possible.
