Hopkinsville 56 Hopkins Co. Central 20

Featured Replies

Final

As expected for Hopkinsville. Hopkins Co. Central is young and haveing their struggles.

Emanuel Taylor 13 rushes for 215 yards and 2 TD's. E.T. became the all time leading rusher in Hopkinsville history passing Curtis Pulley. E.T. played only 2 series in the 2nd half.

Hoptown rotated 2 QB's in and out tonight. Regular starter Chris Thomas did not play any QB tonight instead played some WR and some RB. He caught a 2yard TD pass and had TD runs of 11 and 63 yards.

The 2 QB's used tonight was Junior Kyle Graham and Sophomore Marshall Stewart. Both did some good and both showed their youth. Graham is a pure pocket passer but lacks good quickness and escape speed. Stewart is the bigger of the 2 with an above average arm. He is a good runner with average speed but runs with power. Stewart just started realling learning the QB position this summer.

Besides Emanuel taylor and Chris Thomas Hopkinsville played and got some of their young RB's some carries. Joe Harris continues to be solid as a lead blocker and tonight got some carries. Cardell McGregor is showing he can be a weapon at the FB spot with his quickness and speed. Sophomore DeShawn Johnson came in and ran the ball well in the 2nd half. Even their freshmen FB Ryne Hancock got 1 carry for 9 yards.

Hoptown had good success running out of their "Bunch" sets.

Defensively it was a good night to be a Hoptown LB. Senior Max Arnold got 12 tackles, Junior Jacob Johnson finished with 10, and Sophomore Joe Harris racked up 8 tackles.

I think they wanted to see if they could spread the field and get the ball to the best 3 athletes on the field Antwain Loving, Chris Thomas and Emanuel Taylor in the open field. For the most part it worked but both of the young QB's had trouble finding the open receivers with little or no pressure on them.

Chris Thomas looked great running the ball and was open all night. Antwain Loiving continues to be very impressive with two more TD's catches. He could be the best keept secret in WKY. It will be interesting to see if the Hoptown use the same system next week.

I'll bet the offense was a little more unselfish with Graham and Stewart running the show.
