Tilghman wins it's annual Christmas tournament with a come from behind win over a good Valley team.

 

Big Blue trailed 36-24 at the half and were very lucky to only be down 12. They played much better in the second half and pull out a very close victory in the end.

 

Congrats to all the teams that made this a very successful tourney. Lots of really good teams and outstanding players made for a lot of good games.

I agree. Valley is a legit team. Tilghman has made great strides the last couple weeks. Not even close to where they could be, but much better.

 

The talent is there for Tilghman to make a run, they just have to figure out how to play complete games instead of being so sporadic. I'm pleased at the progress being made recently.

Mayfield and Paducah will be a fun game to watch. I think they are top 2 teams. Mayfield has stepped up their schedule and they will be tough down the stretch.

Agreed. I was literally just thinking about that. I think Tilghman and Mayfield lead the way, but this depth in Region 1 is crazy.

 

Graves, Mccracken and Marshall can beat most anyone on a given night. This Region is gonna be fun to watch for sure.

Then there is a major drop after those 5. But those 5 are pretty solid.

Congrats to PT, I thought Valley was going to run away with it but the big Blue kept fighting, stopped, or cut down on valley driving into the paint and that changed the game. On a side note, serious question, I don’t follow high school basketball a lot, but is there better players in ky than Tandy for UHA? He’s rediculous!

For my money, Tandy is the best player in the state. There are some really talented guys, but all around, this kid gets my vote.

 

He's so smart and in control at all times. You can't rattle him. He makes improbable plays look easy. If he had a little more size, he would be scary good.

In my book he’s already scarey good, he scored 38 against Mayfield and he’s not a ball hog, got the whole package.

Yep. That's another impressive thing about his game. He can score a lot of points on you and does it within the flow of the game.

We have to prove we can compete with Mayfield. That butt kicking we took at Regionals in Murray last season is still on their minds.

 

When Reed is on his game, he's tough. Just gotta be like that consistently. Mayfield has a very talented roster. I believe they are the top 2 teams in our Region right now.

Well I haven’t seen Graves county, but they did beat UHA at the hoopfest, so they must be very good as well.

They are. Gave us a tough game also. All the top teams in our Region will probably add several losses to each other's records by the time it's all done.

JJ Reed finished with 35 to lead all scorers. Curt Lewis from Valley hit a 3 with a second left to cut the lead to 1 and then the clock ran out. That was a very good way to finish the tournament.
