Boone Co is looking for its first win of the season. They played respectably against Conner and were in that ball game until the end. The final was 21-13 Conner. The wind and rain wasn't as big a factor against Ryle, in Boone's next contest, as was Ryle's D-line, O-line, and RB Chisholm. Ryle won 48-0. But Boone is looking for a win and hopes to get one at the Bulldogs' new stadium.

Holmes High School is also winless, losing 13-0 to 1A Bishop Brossart and 41-0 to 2A Walton-Verona. The Bulldogs would love to get their first score and their first win at their first home game of the 2017 season.

So who do you pick for the victory? Indicate your selection in the poll and your post.

Then, if you would be so kind, give us your Keys to Victory for either team or both teams. Remember to keep it positive, please.

Boone County's O-line needs to establish itself early in this game. Boone will seek to establish the run. Against Conner they were able to do this with a committee approach. In addition to the run, mix in short passes to RBs and the TE. This is the 3rd week of the season for Boone. The first game they had a TD off of a longish pass. Last week was too wet and windy to throw. This is the week for the WRs to get into the offense. Does anyone know how the Holmes defense is against the run?

Boone's defense needs to get better against the run. Ryle got a bajillion yards last week in the remnants of Harvey. Boone gave up nearly 200 yards the previous week at Conner. Conner's QBs did a lot of damage as well as Webster who peeled off a 75 yarder. The wind and rain helped the secondary last week so they weren't tested by Ryle. Eliminating or minimizing mistakes will be a key for the secondary. They gave up some big plays against Conner but the good news is these were from mental mistakes. They are of the type that can be fixed.

Boone got roughed up last week so they need a good showing this week. They will come out at the start of the game with something to prove. They need to keep up the intensity throughout the game.

Boone should be able to get the win. Neither team is going to throw it all that well. But Boone's defense is likely able to get more stops and they should dominate the second half.

Against Bishop Brossart the Bulldog's defense wasn't able to stop the pass. I hope Boone Co is able to mount more of a passing game than they have to date, going back to the scrimmage against Cooper. Also, the Bulldog linebackers run downhill against the running game. They move up and fill.

Boone's defense needs to do a better job against the run than against Conner and Ryle because these guys like to run between the tackles. Whether the QB keeps it or the RB gets the ball, they are headed north and south between the tackles.

I predict a physical game with some big hits.
