South Warren scored first then built a 20-0 lead behind the passing arm of Gavin Spurrier and the running game of Christian Winn.

 

Gavin spurrier can throw the ball. If the receivers keep running the routs and trust their quarterback South could put up a lot of points through the air this year. South"s defense led by Jacob lacy with some big plays such as batting the ball down and key tackles along with line backer Pete Cross and Cody Eblen and a host of others has South Defense looking strong through the first half.

 

Spurrier threw for TD"s. JR Clayton Bush had a receiving TD and threw for a TD after a bothched field goal snap. Cody Eblen rushed for a TD on a QB option wildcat type play and Christian Winn Richey for a TtD from 5 yards out after it was set up by a Spurrier Pass.

 

All and all South looked very good and in shape. Except for on Series in the second quarter south looked like they could do whatever they wanted. Penalty bug bit South again Friday night. Holding calls ineligible Down field and personal fouls stopped several drives.

 

Hoptown has some athletes but were gased halfway through the third. Had a hard time running the ball but burnt South on two passing plays for TD"s.

It would have been interesting to see Hoptown with Johnson and Cager. Crippling blows to lose players of that caliber and expect to beat a program like South Warren.

 

Spurrier definitely came at an opportune time for the Spartans. That passing dimension will serve them well.

Great coaches adapt to their players skill set instead of their players adapting to the coaches system. SW will win big this year.
