What does Pendleton County need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

The Wildcats are coming off a 2-8 season under Head Coach Brian Burgemeir, now entering his 3rd campaign. Last season, the team started off 2-1, and showed some promise, but after the loss of star player Austin Still, things deteriorated. The team suffered some key losses to graduation, namely Still and a pair of linemen (Elye Hall, Chris Lovelace). Jordan Smith returns for his senior season to lead the team at QB, but many questions at other positions are unanswered at this point. Through spring workouts I failed to see the name of Cain Baker, who was arguably there best athlete the team had last season, mentioned in any of the updates. Could be a long season without him in the picture.

 

As far as the schedule is concerned, the date that folks in Falmouth have circled is the September 1 contest with border rival Bracken County. The Cats have dominated the series, winning all but the inaugural match. The KHSAA site only has 8 games listed, but one district opponent (West Carter) does not appear. Who the 10th team will be is unknown to me at this time.

** After looking at West's schedule, that game has to be Oct 13-14, as its the only open date left on the Comet's schedule.
