The Breds closeout the final home game of the regular season with a convincing win over the Cooper Jaguars, as they rap out 15 hits in the 5 inning affair.

 

NewCath Sr. pitcher Haley Meyers did it in the circle and at the plate. Meyers allowed only 2 hits while striking out 9 and walking only 1 and at the plate she knocked in 4, 3 on a 2nd inning "moon-shot" over the center-field fence.

 

Over the last 7 games she is batting .571 (12/21), with 3 doubles, 3 homeruns, and 14RBI. In the circle she is 7-0 in 41 innings pitched, giving up 17 hits, allowing only 8 earned runs with 46 K's and only 6 free passes.

 

NewCath collected 5 straight singles to start off the 2nd inning, and after a Sac-Fly by So. catcher Kacy Zimmerman plated the 3rd run of the game, Meyers follows with her 5th "johnson" of the year, a 3-run "dong".

 

The Breds plate 3 more in the 3rd highlighted by a Kacy Zimmerman single and twin sister Kara Zimmerman's double high off the left-field fence. NewCath would get their final 2 runs of the game in the 4th on RBI singles by Sr. Alex Burkart and So. Kara Zimmerman.

 

Also, big "tip of the cap" to NewCath freshmen Brooke Bihl on a perfect 3-3 hitting performance tonight. :ylsuper:

 

The Jags lone run came in the 5th, aided by the only two NewCath errors of the game and a bases loaded walk.

Classy act turned in by the ENTIRE Cooper team and coaches tonight, as they all came out for pregame ground rules and Cooper Head Coach Tony Fields spoke on behalf of the whole team and coaching staff to congratulate NewCath Head Coach Denny Barnes on collecting his 200th fastpitch coaching victory last week.
