March 28, 20179 yr Hassan Childs is a senior who was 3rd on the depth chart last season. He will probably never play for USF again. More than likely, he will be expelled.
March 28, 20179 yr How is this Strongs fault? I don't think that's what he was insinuating. More that it's the first off-the-field problem Strong has to deal with at USF. He hasn't messed around with this kind of stuff at his other stops and I don't think he'll mess around here.

Title now makes it sound like Strong did something.

March 29, 20179 yr Author Spring practice number seven took place this morning without senior defensive back Hassan Childs. New head coach Charlie Strong addressed the gloomy subject after practice concluded. “I’m so thankful that no one else was injured in the incident and that Hassan was not gravely injured,” said Strong. “Right now what we are more concerned about is the welfare and safety of our student athletes and also of those in the community.” On Saturday night Childs was shot three times during an apparent road rage incident. Since then the player has been arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. “When you look at this university and how great of an institution it is and the football program, it is a privilege to represent this program and there are standards and there are values that we uphold and our players understand that it is an obligation and responsibility to represent it the right way,” said Strong. Shortly after the news of Childs’ arrest, the school released a statement that Childs had been suspended indefinitely. “We had a team meeting on Sunday and had a chance to address it, but they all understand,” said Strong. “We’re just hoping to move on.” The new head coach made it clear that all of the players on the USF football team understand the values they are expected to uphold. Strong personally had the chance to speak with Childs. “They all continue to want to go play and he’s a senior, but he totally understood.” “I was just telling our players look at the ticker right now and look at the ESPN ticker and look at what the lead story is. We don’t want to be the lead story for the wrong reasons, we want to be the lead story that this is an unbelievable program, that they’re doing all the right things,” said Strong.
