February 25, 20179 yr Talk about a short honeymoon... Willie Taggart no longer speaking with Oregon beat reporter I can't post the article here. Willie uses an inappropriate word in referring to how he feels about said reporter. This has to do with strength and conditioning coach Irele Oderinde's first workout with team. Evidently 3 players ended up in the hospital. This is what was reported... "Players this week were required to finish the same workouts, which were described by multiple sources as akin to military basic training, with one said to include up to an hour of continuous push-ups and up-downs." Turns out the workouts were voluntary. Taggart is upset at the misrepresentation of the facts. Anybody else find it odd that Oregon players in December, cannot do what South Florida players do in August? Thor Jozwiack was in Oderinde's system for 4 years. I hope to see him Monday night. If I do, I'll will ask him what he thinks.
February 25, 20179 yr Players went to the hospital with a life threatening condition caused by the workout, that's not in dispute. The strength coach served a month long unpaid suspension. If he did nothing wrong why did this occur. There are questions about the strength coaches qualifications. LINK Anyone who knows anything about competitive sports, particularly football, knows that "voluntary" workouts are anything but. You're in the big time now Coach Taggert and you're making more money then most people will ever earn. Time to put on you big boy pants and take the bad with the good.
