This game was what you would except from a rivalry game. Central had a few opportunities to put Southern away but Southern kept fighting. The gym was packed and the excitement was fun.

 

I hope that this is just a first game thing, for both the schools and the officials, but the number of fouls was RIDICULOUS!!!!!! there were 18 in the 1st qtr and 69 for the game, a lot of them could have been play on type calls. Hopefully the referees were just calling it tight because of it being a rivalry game. If not and that is how the season is going to be called it will make for some LONGGGGGG games.

Garrard/Southwestern game was called tight, too. I think it is just "setting the tone" early in the season. The players will adjust and fewer fouls will be called as the season progresses. That's typically how it plays out.
