Banshees scored 4 minutes in, then the Panthers knotted it up 15 minutes into the match. But Bethlehem scored again 3 minutes later, then four more times to take the championship. The six goals Bethlehem scored nearly doubled what E'town had allowed (7) coming into tonight. I think the quick response after E'town tied it put the Panthers on their heels, and they had trouble dealing with the Banshees' speed and passing.

 

Maddie Sparks scored three times and Carly Beam added two more. Abigail Proctor scored the other goal and dished out four assists.

 

Bethlehem hosts the winner of Friday's 8th Region title match (Simon Kenton or South Oldham) at 7pm Monday in semistate play at Lally Field.

Kudos to the Banshees!

 

I know I'm close to the E'town program, but Bethlehem has come so far in girls' soccer the last few years.

 

If South Oldham stuns Simon Kenton -- a tall task with Rob Zoeller and AZ (Abigail) over there -- I'm assuming I could end up covering South on Monday night for a certain newspaper.
