4A #2 Wayne County at 4A #7 Rockcastle County

Food for thought:

Rock's last 3 games Garrard County (current 3A #8 Preps) W 42-14

Pulaski County (current 5A #6) L 32-13 Rock lead 6-0 at half and was tied 6-6 start of 4th.

Somerset (current 2A #9 Louisville AP) W 26-20. Those are 3 quality games and Rock won 2 and had a real chance in the one loss on the road.

Wayne County last 3 games:

Bell County W 41-15 (currently 3A not ranked)

Mercer County W 47-23 (4A not ranked)

Clay County W 53-0 (4A not ranked)

If you look at strength of schedule Wayne County has not played any teams that are currently ranked in the top 10 of their classes. To me their best win by far is Mercer county. They are yet to be battle tested in any game except week 1 and they lost a tough game in overtime.

I feel that Rock has been battle tested over the course of the last 3 weeks to help prepare them for this district match-up with Wayne county. They have played two outstanding rushing teams lead by star players in Foley for Garrard County and Doan for Somerset. Rock held Foley to 69 yards rushing and Doan to 36 rushing yards for a total of 105 yards that is an incredible feat for two great rushing athletes of their caliber. Pass heavy Pulaski county should have helped to prepare them for the passing attack of Wayne County. Rock allowed only 85 passing yards during that game. Somerset has a nice quarterback that is a lot like Wayne county has; he had success early on Rock and got 153 passing yards and just like Wayne county QB he can make you pay with his feet however he finished with -19 rushing yards. Rock's defense adjusted during the second half and forced Somerset into turnovers via INT's that lead to the come back win.

All in all I cant wait for this game to be played out. This should be game of the week in the area! Two great teams doing battle and leaving it all out on the field. I still like Rock in a close one. Sticking to my original prediction
