Im sure no one around the mountains saw this one coming, except for maybe those in the Harlan community. As in most schools in their last go around, you would expect them to basically fade to black, ....apparently this is not the case. Harlan by this has made a statement that they have came to play this season, and IMO builds a great deal of confidence when they combine into Harlan consilidated.

 

Thing is this is actually Harlan Independent, who is not a Harlan County School. The Dragons will be around a long time. And actually Dragon fans really didn't know the quality or potential of this team up to this point. We are pleasantly surprised.

Well, lets talk about Evarts since you already brought it up. This will definitely be a battle for the dragons. I see their passing game being a huge advantage in this one. After all, the QB for Clay Co. had a career performance last night throwing for over 500 yds and I think 6 touchdowns. However, it is important for Harlan not to over look this dangerous Evarts football team. Evarts has their best game year in and year out against Harlan. The same can be said for Cumberland. This will be Harlan's first test against a good ground game. Evarts is always very physical and they will bring lots of heat against Harlan's passing game. If Harlan can capitalize on the pass rush with some screens and quick passes this could be a great night to showcase that new system. However, don't count on Lundy not getting his well deserved touches/yards this week after two unexpected 150+ yd performances. This has the makings of a good district game which it is every year between these two teams.

Agree mostly, except I disagree that Evarts played their best game against Harlan last year. I for one was grateful we played Evarts early as the result could very well have been reversed had the game been late in the year, when Evarts was giving the likes of a talented Lynn Camp squad a run for their money over in Corbin. Our O line will surely be challenged, however I believe they will rise to the occasion, as well as our D-line with Jones, Howard, and co. who will bring it to the Evarts O line. You are right on, though, that if C. Jones and his WRs are clicking, could be the deciding factor. I'll go early and predict the Dragons 24-8.

Congrats to Harlan on a good win, they played well on both sides of the ball, But Hazard did have some brite spots in the game that was called back or did not capitalize on such as the INT by Jared Meehan(his 3rd of the season) and the gutsy play of Colby Hoskins who had a 97yard kick off return and a 35yard pass rec. for a TD called back-he would run a play and come off the field and be sick and run back in for another play-so don't count the bulldogs out just yet.KEEP YOUR HEADS UP BULLDOGS.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Sorry for the mis-association, I thought Harlan Independent was consolidating as well giving the county one high school, but since there not, its great to see how their program has came out and played this season. Im sure you as well as other Dragon fans alike are pleasently suprised.
