4A Poll....

Let's wait and define "real deal" after Friday's game with Dunbar.

I've been around Lexington football for awhile, and Mad. Central could very well get beat by PLD, but they are a young team, and will only get better if they have the right attitude. This Mad. Central compares very favorably to the Tates Creek squad of 2000, we were very young, in both the trenches and in the backfield, and we experienced alot of growing pains that year. We gave Trinity all they wanted for three quarters, they eventually ended up putting like 27 points on the board in the 4th. My point is this Central team is very similar athletically and they looked very crisp, and I was very impressed with the kids attitude.

This Mad. Central is currently a Top 10 4A team, they may not end up that way, but right now, they are. I know it's hard but if Lafayette had played MC in the REC bowl and the performances had been the same, Central would have cruised in that game as well.

Tates Creek of 2000 had Devon Neal and John Clay. They seemed to be more of a power team then this MC team. MC has a much more explosive offense then Tates Creek. That has to do with the type of running backs and the play calling.

I think MC has a ton of potential this year. They have 2 small, quick backs and two bigger, tough yardage type backs but they are all inexperienced. It was hard for a lot of these guys to get touches last year when you had the trio or Warford, Letcher, and Mathis and plus a couple of them were freshman last year too. They do have an experienced QB and while some think their Oline may be young, it actually has 4 seniors and 1 junior who all started somewhere last year as well. And they are big. A big question is going to be if their defense can stop the run, particularly a hard nose type running team like Dunbar. I think if they MC defense can come along in the next few games then they will be a team to watch out for once again in this region.:thumb:

Tht's true but in 2000, our best running back was Greg Baltimore, he had around 1900 yards for the year and made all-state. john and Devin were more power runners, who excelled on defense at LB.

Baltimore, I couldn't remember his name. I was going to say Mian Smith (spelling?) but I think he was a senior in the 1999 season. You are right, those are more the type of backs MC has this year. For some reason when I think of those Tates Creek teams I think of Neal and Clay and their power formations.

haha, yeah, that's typical TC, line up in the power I, and no matter how many people are in the box, try and run it.

MC had some athletes too in those days. Tee Parks, and in my opinion the most athletic high schooler I'd ever played against, Kenneal Jenkins. I saw him play in a basketball game one time, and he caught and dunked over a 6'7 350 pound kid from Clay Co., named Doug Dezarn.

In my opinion, as of right now, I'd say 4A looks about like this.

1. Male

2. Trinity

3. St. Xavier

those three could be in any order, that's just my opinion.

4. Henry Clay

5. PRP

6. Mad. Central

7. Warren Central

8. Scott Co.

9. John Hardin

10. Christian Co.

Lafayette didn't look overly impressive in game 1, and they handily beat Shelby Co., from the looks of the tape from their scrimmage, PLD is close but not there yet, Simon kenton looks on the up and up, and I was real unimpressed by the final score of 7-0 in the North Hardin game, Ballard is also a team in my opinion who will be pretty good. Haven't seen Manual, Meade Co., or the Boro yet.
