Anyone going? Would like a report on the young Pandas. Return three starters after the graduation of Hentz and company.

First year as "Buck's team" as the holdovers from Lanham have all graduated. First year for a TSE dominated varsity roster as well. I believe there is only one non TSE player on varsity (Stephenson NKYVC). Also, only one college commitment (Stephenson Wright State) - that's a first in many years as well.

Time to put up or shut up? May be a long season for the Pandas.

Lol, this is a joke right? Last time I checked NDA still got all it's kids from the same sources. Whether their kids play at Tri-State, NKYVC, Elevation or Kiva in club, it won't change their address. And technically "Buck's Team" won't be here till next season, as 2018 was his first freshman class. Personally I don't think this years team will be strong, and have said that many times, but as has been pointed out to me many times, they will still probably be strong enough to win the 9th. And anyone who thought NDA would be as good as they've been without Morgan, and that class is just plain nuts.

This sounds like sour NKYVC grapes to me.... or just somebody ship stirring.

I'm not so much a grape juice drinker as much as not a fan of TSE. I need to get over it but it still urks me. And its not so much Buck, he seems to be a really nice guy when I've talked to him.

If TSE came into the scene and built their program like most do, by just being the best at what they do, then I wouldn't be so against them. My feeling is they built the program by persuading kids to move clubs to continue their HS career at HS. Proof being that 90% of NDA's team plays for TSE. There just isn't a separation of club and HS and where a kid can be a kid.

I'll stand down and let it go. :idunno:

Sure there is, just send your kid to Dixie. :)

Even before Buck got to NDA the parents there were all sending their kids to NKYVC for much of the same reasons you and others are accusing TSE of. TSE was smart in luring all of the major high school coaches in Cincinnati to their club, and when the vacancy came open at NDA because Andrea decided to leave, they had the best coach on staff who applied to fill her shoes. It just worked out that way, but even before then quite a few NKYVC kids had transfered to TSE. ex. Sarah Droud

I personally think chasing HS coaches is silly. Talent rises to the top regardless of affiliation. And besides, schollarships are earned at the club level. HS volleyball is meaningless to those who compete in club, and if you don't play club you won't play at NDA anyway.

"Sour grapes" Sounds like the OP was stating facts and looking for an opinion on how the Pandas look tonight. And where did the OP state they thought the team would be "as good as they've been.." without Morgan and Company?

Re the bold above...not true. Draud played her 15's season at NKYVC. She left for TSE after Buck was announced as head coach at NDA. In fact, I would have to check because I am going off memory - I think the ONLY current varsity player to play at TSE prior to Buck becoming head coach at NDA, was Monticelliani (sp?). All others that I know to be on varsity did not go to TSE until Buck was hired.

You also imply that Andrea Lanham coached at NKYVC and she didn't. She did not coach club. She helped with practices at NKYVC here and there for one club season, but she never coached a team or ran practices or ran any training at NKYVC. For the majority of her time at NDA she had no club affiliation at all.

Sarah's mom was openly telling folks they were gone before that season was over, which was before Andrea left.

You also forget Dion, the freshman coach, was an NKYVC coach. And her assistant's daughter played at NKYVC.

They also ran the same type of system that NKYVC did and openly told kids that.

No, Andrea did not coach club... but to act as though she didn't benefit from her relationship with NKYVC is kinda crazy.

By the way his fact of "Bucks Team" was wrong and I proved that... ;)

I promise myself that I won't reply anymore but when people get on here and blatantly distort reality for anyone to read, I can't sit silent.

Andrea Lanham resigned from NDA volleyball on November 20, 2013. Buck's hire was announced on January 18, 2014. So if Sarah Draud's mom was walking around all 2014 club season (Sarah's 15u season playing for NKYVC), don't pretend she didn't know Buck was the new coach and that Buck coached at TSE. I'm not implicating Sarah or her mom in anything. I don't even know them, I am using her because you brought her name up as having switched to TSE prior to Buck being hired and the facts are that is a lie, your lie not Sarah or her mom's. Sarah played her 15u (2014) season at NKYVC and left at 16u.

Then you say, 'Well she may have been playing at NKYVC but her mom was telling everyone she was leaving prior to Andrea resigning from NDA..." So, I guess if NKYVC season started on January 1st...she told a bunch of people she was leaving NKYVC between January 1-January 18 when Buck was announced. Even you have to realize how silly that sounds. No tournaments had been played, maybe 6 practices had taken place yet Mrs. Draud is running around saying she is leaving NKYVC. It makes no sense.

As for where the Frosh coach was affiliated - we are talking Head Coaches but I guess if you want to split hairs, you would be right. I have no idea where Buck's staff coaches and that is irrelevant anyway.

With regard to Andrea's assistants... for many years it was Matt Long of Team Z/TSE. I believe Matt was there for all but Andrea's last season. Andrea's last year her assistant was Christie Pavia who does not have any daughters and had no club affiliation as she had just moved here from out of town. So I am not sure what Assistant you are talking about as having a daughter who played at NKYVC.

The JV coach, Gretchen Stephenson, coached at NKYVC but had not for many years. She was not the varsity assistant. Yes, her daughters played (and play there now) at NKYVC as did almost the entire NDA program back then. Again, you don't even know the basics of who was coaching what team (Lanham/Pavia varsity, Stephenson JV and Reyes Frosh), yet you get on here and act like you know everything. Why would anyone post something that can be refuted so easily?

As for who benefitted from whom...that is my exact argument....NDA benefitted from NKYVC not the other way around. Now, TSE benefits from NDA....there is a big difference.

How about don't post anything unless you know for a fact it to be true. I have emails from NDA admin with dates to verify the above resignation date of Lanham and hiring of Buck, forwarded to me by parents in the program at the time. Everything you post is "I talked to some parents..." or "Well I know some people over there..." Usually, I ignore it but you are over the top here.

I even hate how this all comes across. I am an NDA fan. I simply wanted to know if anyone was going to the scrimmage tonight to watch them play and get some feedback. I don't hate TSE, I do hate the implication across the board that to get ahead at NDA you have to play at TSE - that is felt across the club volleyball community. I always want the Pandas to succeed no matter who the coach is and what club they play for. Facts are, this is a brand new team. Current seniors never played for Lanham, they played Frosh/JV as freshman and the bulk of NKYVC players are gone. That is different for NDA, as is the lack of scholarship athletes. Those are facts.

So.....does anybody know how the scrimmage turned out? Scores?

THANK YOU! I would like to know as well....

Sorry, you are correct about the hire dates. I apologize for not having my timing correct. I got his hire date confused with the last two basketball coaches, which happened around the dead period and therefore the coach was unable to speak with their team until after it was over.

That one fact is in your favor. Yet let’s look a little closer at your statements and the situation.

Volleyball tryouts at NDA happened after July 15th Buck’s first year, as they do every year, and invitations in club went out on July 4th. The Draud’s moved clubs before she actually made his HS team. Your implying that Buck and or TSE influenced that situation before he conducted his first official practice or held tryouts. Specifically, your saying that during open gyms he started making the kids drink the TSE cool aide. Right… At worst, they were chasing their future HS coach, which I don’t believe they did. I believe they truly chose that club over their current situation because they thought it was in their daughters best training interest.

On coaches:

Andrea fired Matt, correct?

Matt co-owns TSE, correct?

Yet that has nothing to do with why you, an Andrea supporter, despises TSE. Right...

Concerning Assistant coaches: Last time I checked, all coaches, if not the head coach, were assistants, but you are correct in your splitting of hairs and saying that Christie was her Varsity Assistant that year. We both know I was referring to Gretchen, and that Gretchen and Andrea ran that program together.

Gretchen’s daughter played at NKYVC then and now.

You admitted that both Gretchen and Andrea have coached at NKYVC in the past.

The Freshman head coach Dion was from NKYVC and coached 14’s. (8th graders).

Andrea and Gretchen accompanied NKYVC when they put on clinics at the elementary parochial schools.

Yet you are trying to say with a straight face that Andrea and Gretchen weren’t tied at the hip to NKYVC? The fact that neither of them were currently coaching a club team at NKYVC doesn’t mean that they didn’t have their hooks into her program, and the entire NKY parochial system which fed them.

You also claim that Andrea didn’t select or coach Freshman (2020), and Sophomores (2019) in her program just because they weren’t on the varsity roster.

Who is misleading who? Andrea ran a good program. She was intricately involved in all aspects.

Also, the Senior Parent who became belligerent with a coach, did so to Gretchen at an after season party. Andrea had already left the party before then, and was not involved.

Concerning Scholarships:

Please do tell, where are the scholarship athletes that NDA is missing due to the coaching and club affiliation change? Which schools are these NKY D1 athletes attending over NDA because of the change in head coaches. Or are you saying that in two years’ time NDA’s program has been so effected by the inept coaching abilities of TSE that kids at NDA are no longer getting the level of coaching required to attain the next level. (Before you answer that you might want to check TSE's team finishes at Nationals. LOL) Personally I think NDA has several girls who will secure scholarships before they graduate. To imply that the available pool of talent at NDA is related to a coaching change or club affiliation change is ludicrous. It’s just not True. NKY has had an extended period of phenomenal volleyball athletes. If that period experiences a bump In the road it will not be due to training.

What is obvious to me is that the Andrea vs Buck, and TSE vs NKYVC thing is personal for you.

You despise TSE’s involvement with NDA’s program because their kids and feeder schools have migrated for the most part into that one training center, but when NKYVC was that provider it was perfectly acceptable.

To sum this all up I’d like to use a quote from your previous post.

You said, “NDA benefitted from NKYVC not the other way around. Now, TSE benefits from NDA....”

I believe it should read. “Under Andrea NDA benefitted from NKYVC and others. Now under Buck NDA benefits from TSE and others.”

Have you heard the phrase, "second verse, same as the first..."

Again so much misinformation but I really don't care. Some of us have jobs and can't spend our work day on BGP posting nonsense.

I will only say that most of what you assert here is your opinion of how I feel. None of it is based on fact.

I laid out lots of facts. Dispute them if you can. Tell me how wrong I am. If I am, I will admit it. I've demonstrated that already. Will you?
