June 21, 201610 yr I had the unfortunate experience of loosing a water pump yesterday afternoon, and if any of you have experienced this, it was sudden to say the least. I was in Harrodsburg and had just enough time to turn at round and start toward the parts house, still thinking it was just a belt letting go, when she went and I cut the engine, took a right turn onto the bypass and there I sat. Of course I had my phone and quickly called my Dad to get some help, but still had to wait 45 min. For him to drive from Woodford County. That is the place I've always called home, until yesterday. In the short amount of time I was there, off the main road all together mind you, no less than a dozen people stopped to check on me. Several of these folks made the same turn I did off of US 127 South, just to look in on my situation. I know this because as soon as leaving my situation they turned arround and headed back the way they came. Two of the ones who stopped, I actually knew. Neither of them knew it was me in that Durango tho. This situation had an impact on me. I never knew just how many good people there were where I live! My hometown will proudly be Harrodsburg from now on! What are some feel good stories that make you love your hometown ?
June 21, 201610 yr Similar story. On Superbowl Sunday in late 80s was running around getting party materials for the big game around noon and I ran out of gas in south Lexington. So walked up to closest gas station (less than a mile) and bought a gas can and filled it with gas and hoofed it back. But while filling the gas in the car 2 different cars - with families in their Sunday best - stopped and ask if all was OK. Which it was. But it made a similar impression.
