I'm going to go into Severe Weather Alert Mode for today. Mainly because the latest information I've just looked at is showing a tornado threat that grows tonight into Thursday morning.

 

Some could see more than one round of showers and storms today. Because of the very high dew points some of these could put down some torrential rain fall totals. The dew points could be in the mid to upper 70s by tonight.

 

I expect the most severe weather to come late this afternoon into the early morning hours on Thursday. This is when the models are showing conditions are most favorable for the formation of tornadoes. Those along the Ohio River and in Southern Indiana should have a way to notify themselves tonight in case the severe weather does develop. One more thing that is new with the latest model data. This could be a two day event with strong to severe storms reoccurring on Thursday.

 

The Storm Prediction Center has most of Kentucky in a cat 2 Slight Risk area. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see parts of Indiana and maybe sections of Kentucky along the Ohio River from around Owensboro to NKY raised to a cat. 3 Moderate Risk area later today.

 

Everyone should stay weather aware today for the possible strong to severe storms later today and into Thursday morning.
