Region 10 Top Scoring Threats for 2016

Featured Replies

Montgomery County graduated a ton of offense, but one would suspect there's more in the pipeline. Campbell County also lost a top goalscorer in Rob Ausgberger and set-up man Sam Parnell.

Bourbon County doesn't play Germany or CovCath, but nonetheless has a lot of scoring coming back. Who else should we be looking for from Region 10 in the fall? Who steps in at MoCo, Brossart and Scott?

For reference, here are stats leaders coming back from last fall:

Kamron Stout, Bourbon County (24/5)

Ryan Mitchell, Mason County (15/4)

Bryce Johnson Mason County (15/3)

Chris Deluna, Bourbon County (14/6)

Landon Bowman, Bourbon County (13/7)

Colton Schneider, Campbell County (10/5)

At Scott, Johnny Trenkamp and Ryan Wolf have been playing since at least their sophomore year. Over the past couple years they've had the likes of Treadway, Schneider, Morgan and Hegerty carrying the offense in front of them. Can we expect to see Trenkamp and/or Wolf moved further up the pitch to generate offense?

At Campbell County I'd presume that Grant Perkins become partners with Colton Schneider in midfield to create offense (Grant's older brother Sam had a great career at Campbell County and Grant has the same smooth style of play). Any chance we see Colton Schneider pressed into service higher up the field for the Camels?

Speaking of older brothers, is the younger Henn at Brossart prepared to take more of the load following significant losses at Brossart to graduation? What about Bryan Duffy (Frosh last year)? Can we expect him to be a focus on offensive? Of course the thing that amazes me season after season is Brossart's ability to reload with relatively small numbers and still be very competitive.

Other Region 10 players to watch on offense?

A few things Grant Perkins older brother Sam was a great player for Brossart in his day not Campbell, Sam Parnell also played for Brossart not Campbell.

I don't believe Brian Duffy is returning to play soccer this fall, Justin henn (0 goals 0 assists )will have to step up his game this year because there will only be three returning seniors. Only two of those started Chism had I believe 5 goals 5 assists on the season the other was the primary goalkeeper Hildreth. The third is Trevor khan an who is a solid player/

Absolutely correct on Campbell and Brossart... and good call on Trevor Kahmann... great kid spending time this summer at Governors Scholar Program. Bossart could be the team this fall that has the most players on the field who didn't play Club soccer this spring: Kahmann, Cody, Sendlebach, McGrath, Hildreth - assuming they all play again this fall.

Neither Sendelbach or McGrath will be returning to soccer either they are making the switch to Brossarts mighty football program. But Don't even get me started on the recruiting from other programs in the school.

Brossart graduated 11, which is a large senior class for Brossart. By my count if Sendlebach and McGrath are out that leaves 3 Seniors (Chism, Hildreth and Kahmann), 1Junior (Henn) and 5 Sophomores returning. Looks like lean times for Brossart.

There are two more juniors Klear and Hickman and more sophomores none of which saw any varsity time, but your right it will be tough should still manage a .500 season.

Strong innuendo there that Coach Wiggins and staff (football coach) are actively luring soccerjocks off of the pitch and onto the gridiron, which couldn't be farther from the truth.

Duffy wanted to play football last year but couldn't get mom and dad's OK. Somehow he has managed to clear that hurdle this year.

The football program's success of a year ago has served to sell itself to those who are defecting from soccer to football. Playing under the Friday night lights before a large crowd is more attractive than playing during the week at Pendery Park before family and friends.

Pre-game meals, marching over to Bob Miller from the firehouse, after-game gatherings and tailgating, and watching your game reports on the 11 O'Clock News and in the next day's newspaper all add up to a more attractive experience.

Success breeds success, and IF the football program can remain competitive into the foreseeable future, it will continue to attract more and more fall sports athletes. This is no different than most other small schools who have soccer and football.

"Career" soccer players will continue to play soccer, and hopefully each will have a niche in which they will be successful.

Nothing could be farther from the truth I no for a fact that the coaches have approach 3rd multiple kids from other sports. So get off your high horse thinking that your sports do no wrong and come back to earth.

A blast from the past......well played Sir !

Are you counting the sophomores-to-be this fall in your total count? There are some really talented sophomores-to-be and don't forget, this group won the Freshman Regional last season. Many will see varsity action this season in my opinion.

There are no coaches at Brossart that actively recruit players from other same-season sports. Now I do hear parents say stuff to kids about coming to a certain sport but who doesn't do that?

I have been told by a parent of one of the boys that left that a coach personally talked to him and his son about coming to the football team. And your right parents do talk to the boys about switching and there's nothing you can do about that.
