May 23, 201610 yr In addition, the committee voted to do away with the need for teams to throw four balls when it wants to intentionally walk a batter. Instead, the batter would simply be awarded first base. I never really understood the need for throw four pitches to intentionally walk a batter. However, as a beer vendor, I'm against any rule that speeds up the game haha!
