Since NewCath's field was unplayable, a phone call was made to Northern Kentucky University (we have connections ), and the Breds and Bearcats hooked up on the NKU softball field for a dandy.

 

NewCath's Haley Meyers returns to the form we expect and tosses a 6-hitter, (3 of which were of the infield variety) K's 10, walks no one, and goes 3-3 at the plate.

 

Breds get all they would need in the 1st. Kathryn Schreiber leads off with an infield single deep in the 6-hole, following a K, Meyers launches a triple to the right-center fence. After a Lexy Breen walk, Alex Burkart lifts a sacrifice fly to right that scores Meyers. Walton-Verona starter, Lexie Rouse, would only surrender a Meyers single to right-center in the 3rd and a Schreiber single to right-center in the 5th over the next 4 innings.

 

However, NewCath would collect 3 hits in the 6th and plate their final run of the game in the frame. Meyers leads off with a bullet to right-center, Breen drops a beautiful bunt, and Jenna Fryer laces a RBI double to center.

 

Meyers allowed only one Walton-Verona ball reach the outfield grass, a 3rd inning fly-out to left, and the Bearcats lone run crossed the plate in the 6th, following 2 infield hits deep in the 6-hole, a throwing error allowed Aubri Anderson to score for the Bearcats.

Thanks to NKU for the use of the field, it was in AMAZING condition.

 

The JV players had a great time playing on a college field.

BTW, WV shortstop Olivia Dezarn with a ESPN worthy WebGem, albeit on DLG 2.0, on a GREAT diving catch on a ball destined for left-center.

Nice talking with LB13 last night. Nice game by both teams. Was happy to see #5 back in the field for Walton last night after sitting the last 4 weeks or so with a banged up foot!
