The tourists were monumentally stupid. However, I don't understand why the Bison could not have been placed in a sanctuary or with a wildlife rehabilitation specialist...happens frequently with displaced animals.

 

Thanks. I think the key points here are the time and money to avoid the disease concerns. Seems like this cost should be borne by the tourists as just punishment. I don't totally buy into the reasoning by the USPS as according to their own statement, rehabilitation is not their mission, it is managing their existing herd.
