An Alternative to Obamacare

"We propose providing a refundable health insurance tax credit of $1,200 for those under 35 years of age, $2,100 for those between 35 and 50 years of age, and $3,000 for those over 50, in addition to $900 per child. These tax credits would be made available to those, and only to those, who purchase health insurance through the individual market. - See more at: http://2017project.org/2014/01/paving-way-full-repeal/#.VvqVFHyrTCK"

Family health insurance purchased in the individual marketplace is approaching $30 k per year. This tax credit is simply too small to be an impact. The uninsured will continue to resort to getting routine care in emergency care facilities that are required to serve patients regardless of ability to pay (Thanks Ronald Reagan!).

Better and available preventative care reduces care for chronic conditions later. This whole proposal reeks of "Care for the economically privileged". About the only thing I would change is providing a tax credit for having health insurance, rather that a tax liability for being uninsured.

Obamacare has been largely vilified. If you poll citizens regarding the components of Obamacare, without mentioning it by name, you would find the results quite favorable.
