Treyton Humfleet, Bell Co. - 1950 yds, 8.4 ypc, 39 TDs - Can the incoming senior speedster improve upon his monster junior season? He'll be asked to carry a seemingly troubled Bobcat program in 2016.

Miles Hurst, Jackson Co. - 2163 yds, 8.8 ypc, 18 TDs - One of five backs to reach the 2000 yard mark last season in Kentucky. He's one of the mountain's best kept secrets for the 2-9 Generals.

 

Brody Johnson, East Ridge - 1807 yds, 10.1 ypc, 25 total TDs - Another well kept secret in the mountains. Any time you can average a first down every time you carry the ball, you're pretty special.

 

Cory Smith, Hazard - 1609 yds, 8.7 ypc, 16 TDs - Just a sophomore in 2015, this 6ft, 200lb bruiser led the way as the Bulldogs reached their 10th regional championship game in a row.

A lot of good choices. I've seen Conley run, really good runner. However, I think Phelps is the front runner for the position. Man, from tape, that kid is impressive.

Just on sheer physical ability alone, Phelps is probably one of the top players in the state. Potentially a Mr. Football candidate next season.

 

Conley doesn't have Phelps' speed, but he's an excellent all-around talent. Good size, strength, speed, vision, hands, and work ethic. His numbers would have been much greater last year if he hadn't injured his shoulder. If he's healthy for all of 2016, I look for 1500+ yds and 20-25 TDs out of him. Plus, he's a big part of the passing game as well.

Nick should definitely be the centerpiece of the offense next season, regardless of whatever else Russell has coming back. The top five receivers return, but we'll have a new QB and four new starters on the OL. The QB will likely be the one that started the Ashland game last year in place of an injured Jacob McKee.
