North Laurel Senior League (15-16) advances to elimination bracket

Featured Replies

Congrats to the North Laurel Senior League softball teamand manager Jimmy Durham on advancing to the elimination bracket of the Central Regional tournament.

the NNSL team is currently undefeated in the tournament a they won their pool by defeating Petersburg (Indiana) 7-6 in 9 innings on Friday (7/28), Lakeland (Bristol, Wisconsin) LL 12-0 yesterday (7/29), and previously undefeated Taylor (MI) LL 2-0 today (7/30).

The ladies next opponent will be determined later tonight as they're awaiting the outcome of the De Soto (MO) LL/Grandview (Des Moines, IA) LL. If Grandview LL wins then Pool A will have a three way tie for first anf only two teams advance from each pool so the tie-breaking rules will go into effect.

In tomorrow's elimination game at 10:00am, the winner will advance to the championship that will be played right after that at noon. Both elimination games are being played at the same time on seperate fields.

I was able to listen to the webcast of the game today and it sounded like Abby Sears was on the money in the circle.

I will post the elimination bracket as soon as I can.

Following Grandview LL's 10-2 victory over De Soto LL, the tie that I had previously talked about did go into effect. I'm not real clear on the tie breaker rules but, Grandview LL still didn't make the elimination bracket. Tomorrow's elimination bracket will be as followed:

Semifinal 1 - 10am* - Host District 11 (South Bend, IN) v/s Taylor (MI)

Semifinal 2 - 10am - North Laurel v/s Ashtabula (OH)

Championship - 12pm* - Winner Game 1 v/s Winner Game 2

*game will be webcasted on http://www.broadcastsport.net/. To get the webcast, just click on the LL Softball logo, type in your zipcode and find the game that will be on the air. You can even listen to today's North Laurel LL victory that's archived.

I was told that North fell in the semifinals 1-0 today against the Ohio squad. Apparently, they could only muster one hit and 17 North batters struck out.

Still, a good run!

You're correct on the score there JS. The Ashtabula OH squad advanced on to the regional championship but was defeated by the host South Bend IN squad 5-3. South Bend IN will now represent the Central Region in the Senior League Softball World Series.

Congrats to these girls on a great showing! They represented KY very well!

Any word on how the other KY winners have done? Valley Sports in the 11-12 yr old and Laurel County in the 13-14 yr old divisions?

The Junior League tournament doesn't start until Saturday. I can't tell about the little league one, given how poorly interconnected the little league Web sites are.

Check that. Valley Sports is 4-0 in pool play, with their final pool game today against Wisconsin. If Wisconsin wins that one, and the Indiana team wins against the host Missouri team (0-4), it would force a three-way tie for first. Not sure how they'd determine the two teams going to the semifinals out of that — I guess some combination of runs scored/runs allowed.

Just at a cursory glance, it seems Kentucky would advance no matter what happens, given they have a couple shutouts and they've scored a lot of runs.

Thanks for the update! I expect to see VP in the world series. I believe they returned 8 players from their team which went there last year. They are flat out tough!
