Former NewCath player, Coach, Teacher, Mentor, and most importantly Parent, Mike Woods passed away last night. Mr. Woods touched countless lives in his time at Newport Catholic and Villa Madonna. I'll never forget how funny he was as an assistant coach during my time as a water boy in the early 90s. I always wanted to have him as my coach, but he left before I got the chance. Every time I saw him he had a smile and a joke. The man will be missed by the NewCath Community.

 

Many in NKY will remember hearing his voice as a sideline reporter for radio coverage throughout the 90s and 2000s.

Mike Woods was the best of them all. Such a tough loss for an incredible family. My prayers to Donna, their children and grandchildren.
