If anyone has ever been to far western Kentucky through the LBL area, you probably crossed over the Eggner's Ferry Bridge (over Kentucky Lake) at some point. That bridge, and its sister bridge over Lake Barkley, are relics. Both are narrow and dangerous.

 

Since the Renaissance Era, it was slated to be replaced with a modernized, 4 lane bridge. A Beshear staffer has always told me it was his goal before getting out of office to be in Marshall County to cut the ribbon opening the bridge. Well, today construction crews are installing the major span(s) of the bridge. The construction has been awesome to watch these past couple years.
