Tough, tough PK loss by our guys tonight.

 

KyCountry Day owned much of the first half but could only manage a single goal - a 25 yard free kick at the 23rd minute of the contest by freshman Sam Hunt. They led 1-Nil at the half.

 

Momentum changed in the second half and it was the Mustangs who seemingly outplayed the Bearcats, culminating with Dylan Geiman scoring the equalizer in the 55th minute, unassisted on a 22yard shot on goal that hit paydirt.

 

The game ended in a 1-1 tie and went straight to PKs where the Bearcats hit on their first four shotss to the Mustangs two to win the match and advance to Sunday's 1pm finals where they will be favored to defeat Lexington Sayre who also won their match with Murray 1*-0 on PKs.

 

Both games of the girls semis and the boys semis were decided by PKs.

I hate when matches are decided by PKs.

I have no problem with games ending in pks. No one has come even close to finding a better solution. The good thing about pks, it's almost all about the technique, mental strength, and some luck by the keeper guessing which way to move. And the keeper moving in the right direction is not always by luck, many times a good keeper can pick up on which way the striker will go. The game does and should reward the technical player, the player that has put in the hundreds of hours to improve his technical skills. I would believe if there was ever a study conducted on HS games ending in pks, far and away the more technical team won by a huge percentage, not a thing wrong with that.
