September 13, 201511 yr In late August, American Airlines accidentally flew the wrong plane from Los Angeles to Hawaii, a mix-up that violated Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The mistake, first reported by aviation blogger Brian Sumers, occurred on Aug. 31 — just days after the airline began flying Airbus A321 planes on the L.A. to Hawaii route (other planes in American Airlines’ fleet have long flown this route). A spokesman for the airline confirmed to The Washington Post that a version of the A321 plane that was not certified to make long flights over water — as on the route between Los Angeles and Hawaii — was accidentally flown that day. September 13, 201511 yr Author It happens. Not according to aviation experts. And not according to the AA president: "Norton, the AA president, said he was not aware of similar past incidents at American or other airlines".
September 14, 201511 yr AA and USAir are finishing up their merge. Not overly shocked if they are now crossing over equipment on routes. But still not good.
September 14, 201511 yr American Airlines screwed up royally? You don't say? Color me shocked. Most incompetent company I've ever dealt with. Pretty sure you have to be a certified idiot to work there.
September 14, 201511 yr I'd love to be on an LA to Cincy flight and have them take me to Hawaii. I'd be burning my vacation days like crazy.
