Want to know the worst thing about scoring against Ashland?

It only means you must defend Quinton Baker again.

That task comes complete with a four-word message: Good luck with that.

The Marshall commit hopped, galloped, spun and sped to 248 yards on 18 carries in the Tomcats’ 41-21 toppling of Raceland on Friday night at Putnam Stadium. Baker scored four times.

“They got a horse, they’re going to ride him,” said Raceland coach Michael Salmons. “Hats off to them for doing that. That’s good for us. I don’t know if we’ll face a better running back than Quinton Baker all year, so that’s good preparation for our kids to know how to play at a high level.”

Senior Grant Krueger flattened a Ram to spring Baker loose for the 5-foot-9 running back’s first (and longest) score of the night, an 84-yard jaunt in the opening quarter.

“I was just doing my job, got out around the side, got two good (looks at) blocks and just went for it,” Krueger said.

Baker struck again in the third, when he capped off a nine-play drive that included eight Baker totes.

“I  just told the linemen, hey, let’s just put this game in the books,” said Baker, clapping his hands. “They opened up the holes and it was there, and just good play-calling.”

Sounds like a great young man, very respectful and very humble. Best of luck to this young man.

The kid avg'd 14.5 yards a carry in that game lol, that is unreal!!!!!
