Lawnboy13
For the paying customers tonight, you got your monies worth..........and then some! Both teams need to be commended for their efforts tonight. :ylsuper: NewCath outlast the Beechwood Tigers, going the full 5 games, 3-2. Breds libero, Amanda Ruwe, was back for the 1st time in two weeks, however, So. Lexy Breen turns her ankle with the score tied at 24 in game 2 and doesn't return until game 5. In her place, Alex Burkart (2.0) performed outstanding. Rachel McDonald was a beast at the net and beyond, Mikah Freppon as always, on the floor at every chance, Anna Schneider and Haley Meyers with some big blocks, & the two seniors, Alexa Kehoe and Amanda Ruwe quietly doing their job and providing senior leadership......all-around GREAT effort by the entire team!!! Game 1 - Beechwood starts out with 3 pt. leads at 3-0, 7-4, 9-6, before the Breds call timeout. Following the TO, the Breds tie things up and then go out in front 11-9 & 15-14. Beechwood then takes 3 pt. leads at 19-16 & 21-18, the Breds close the gap at 21-20. It's all tied at 22 then each team trades pts. until the Tigers win 27-25. Game 2 - NewCath is up 2 pts. early before we're knotted at 9's. Then the Tigers take a 3 pt advantage at 17-14. Breds call TO and before you know it, NewCath goes up 20-19. Tigers call TO and then go up 21-20. A great block by Meyers & Schneider give the Breds a 23-21 lead. Then both teams commit service failures and it's 24-22 Breds. Beechwood would tie it up at 24, and on the play NewCath's Lexy Breen turns her ankle and is gone for the rest of the game. NewCath wins on a Rachel McDonald kill. 26-24. Game 3 - Total domination by NewCath, minus Lexy Breen. Breds start off on a 11-2 run, it balloons to 16-4, 21-6, & 24-7, before the final of 25-10. Game 4 - Beechwood takes a quick 2-0 lead, before the Breds respond and go up 5-2, 8-5, 10-6, 13-8. Tigers get things together and respond with a 11-5 run to go up 17-16. From this point on neither team goes up more than a point until the Tigers escape with the 25-23 victory. Game 5 - Lexy Breen returns, and the Breds start off up 6-3, 7-6, 9-6. With NewCath up 11-9, they call TO and following that Beechwood ties things up at 11 with a ball that rides the net to "no mans land". Breds go up 12-11, 13-11, & 14-12 and the game ends on a Freppon to McDonald spike. A little controversy in this one centering around the player line judges and the calls made. None decided the outcome of this match, however it got the fans in a uproar. On one call ball was "clearly" in and she called it out, then said in (NewCath's pt.). My take on this......freshmen players SHOULD NOT be doing this, hell I even feel uncomfortable doing it.

vblover
I thought Mikah was still running a 5/1 offense. It seems difficult for one hitter to have more kills than the setter had total assists.

FRONT OF THE RIM
I thought Mikah was still running a 5/1 offense. It seems difficult for one hitter to have more kills than the setter had total assists. They are running a modified 6/2 offense where Mikah sets at 4 positions and Lexi Breen sets at 2 positions. This gives Mikah the opportunity to hit at 2 front row positions.
MyShadow
Career highs! That's gotta be some kind of school record!! That's really impressive! Anyone else on the team hit?
