Now from the 9th Region fans of Ludlow, Dayton, Bellevue, Newport, Villa, and Lloyd.........(did I leave anyone out?) I am sure you all will answer sportsfanofeky question.

The 35th District seeds and things would have been fine had the coaches at Beechwood and CovCath understood the pitching rules. So how are the seedings going to be in that district now anyway. Honestly I would expect this out of some coaches but not out of these 2 guys.

The 34th also seeds with Dixie #1 playing Lloyd #4 and Ludlow#2 playing Villa #3.

The BigZig is on record for not caring one way or another about seeding or a blind draw. You got to win to move on regardless so whats it matter who you play. I just think some of the bigger programs or stronger programs seem to feel they are entitled to a 1st round free pass for whatever reason and I disagree with that way of thinking. Anyway I think there was a school a couple of years ago that thought they got themselves a 1st round pass. We all know what happened then..HAHA..

I didn't mention any particular game in my post but now that you mention it I do recall that game somewhat.:dancingpa Never to big a deal to the Panthers from what I remember.

Never have been to big a fan of the runnerup moving on to be honest. I agree you lose and your out. That happens now regardless of seeding or blind draw. In that Ludlow/CCH game it was as you know a 1st round game and obviously the end of the season for the Colonels. I think they checked with the KHSAA to find several loopholes in order for them to continue on but they couldn't make it happen...:banana: :lol: JK..

Seeding is good because it creates rivalries and settles things on the field. I think the only problem with seeding, and the KHSAA for that matter, is that there is no consistancy from year to year. You can vote by majority to change it year to year. And, I think that once a district decides to seed, it should be required in all sports for that district (boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, etc..) I do not like a scenario where one school votes for seeding in one sport and not the other - usually based on talent each year. Each school should cast one vote across the board.

 

As far as the small schools, most years any of the small schools in NKY (or the rest of the state) may have one good pitcher capable of winning one game. If they are lucky, they may have two. Seeding to the small schools is important in this area depending on whether or not you are a 4 or 6 team district. It's a lot easier to pull off one upset vs. two once you have used your best picture. Don't take this the wrong way, but after beating CovCath a couple of years ago, would Ludlow have had the pitching to beat another team like Beechwood or Dixie if there was a six team district?:confused:

Whether it be seeding or blind draw teams still have to win in order to advance. With the 34th this year you have Lloyd, Ludlow, and Villa, all right there evenly matched and then Dixie as a pretty big front runner to win it all. Sometimes in these cases a seeding is a little easier, especially for some of the smaller schools. It doesnt really matter you still have to win and a blind draw just decideds who you play and what round you play it in. The way I see it if a team wins and comes as District Champs or Runners Up they earned the right to do so more then anyway else in the district.

They didn't have to (play Dixie or Beechwood) but they did beat Holy Cross to win the District title that year. That year they did have 3 or 4 very capable pitchers but I agree more times then not a small school doesn't have that many options. I do agree that the makeup of the districts are wrong with only 4 teams in many. Althought it would probably hurt the smaller schools a 6 team district would make for better district tournaments.
