oldgrappler
Sunday night, August 2, was the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on free tv. I caught the fight between Yudel Jhonson, formerly of Cuba and Jorge Cota of Mexico. It was a hugely entertaining fight as both men mostly threw power punches. Cota needs to work on his defense but his offense was enough to give him the unanimous decision. There were several knockdowns, some of them missed by the ref who called them a slip or that it came after the round. Cota's power proved to be the difference as he landed more power shots that hurt Jhonson. There have been a couple of threads on how boring boxing is in comparison to UFC because boxers dance around and find ways to avoid one another. Not so in this bout! Both boxers came to fight and mixed it up from opening bell to the final bell in round 10. I didn't see the main event between Payano and Cincinnatian Rau'shee Warren but by all accounts it also was an action packed fight. This may be boxing's best chance to stage a comeback--entertaining fights for free during prime time. Or at least not at 2 am.
Wireman
I've watched every televised boxing match that I can get on my TV since the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. Boxing is highly entertaining. There are always good matches on PBC.
