Whitworth came in as the No. 5 overall offensive lineman

Recommended Posts

Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth is one of the NFL's best lineman, and the minds behind Madden NFL thankfully recognize that.

The popular video game franchise is set to release Madden NFL 16 soon, and they're revealing the player ratings of the game's best players at each position. For their best offensive lineman, Whitworth came in as the No. 5 overall offensive lineman, just ahead of Browns tackle Joe Thomas and free agent guard Evan Mathis.

Per the EASports website:

Whitworth will be challenged by talented rookies Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher. He’ll be hard to unseat with 94 Strength, 98 Pass Blocking, and 89 Run Blocking.

The only lineman that came in ahead of Whitworth were Ravens guard Marshall Yanda,Jets center Nick Mangold, Eagles tackle Jason Peters and Packers guard John Sitton. As crazy as it may sound, the guys at Madden actually seem to have gotten this list right.

That's a far cry from how other so-called experts, and even Whit's own NFL peers, view him. He wasn't listed among the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2015, nor has he been since the inception of the list and NFL show in 2011.
