gchs_uk9 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Garrard scored a run in the first and two more in the fifth, then rode starting pitcher Logan Teague the rest of the way for a 3-0 win. Teague finished off a complete game shutout, striking out seven while allowing only three hits. Garrard moves on to play West Jessamine in the championship game at Wayne County on Saturday afternoon at 3:00. West Jessamine last won the region in 2010, while Garrard has never claimed a region title. The Lions' last appearance in a regional final was in 1981 when they fell to Madison Central in the 11th Region championship.
gchs_uk9 Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 By the way, championship game is being played on Saturday due to both Garrard and West Jessamine holding graduation ceremonies on Friday night.
gchs_uk9 Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 What type of pitching does Garrard have left? They'll go with their #2 pitcher, Matt Wilburn. He's been solid all year. Came in for Teague in the third inning Monday against Wayne and shut them down after Wayne had taken the lead. The only kid who can't pitch is Teague, their ace, who went seven last night.
