Check Out This Muskie Caught in the Green River

Recommended Posts

For the uninitiated, a Muskie (or Musky) is the king of all freshwater fish. It is the top of the food chain, the apex predator. It stalks any prey it wants, and nothing eats it.

It takes many fishermen an entire season just to catch 1 or 2 legal fish. They are almost universally a catch and release fishery because they are so rare and hard to catch. I can think of about 10 other freshwater fish you would rather eat than a Muskie. Muskies are full of soft bones like a Northern Pike and were not put on this earth for eating. Go eat all the Bluegill, Crappie, and Walleye you want. Muskies are for the thrill of the hunt and the sport of the fight, not for eating.

What a jerk you are Tommy Speed for killing that fish. Having caught many muskies while bass fishing, I know there is no way a small bass lure on 10lb line would have caused enough damage to kill a fish of that size. It could have been released. Even if it was hooked in the gut, the line could have been cut and a lure that small would have worked itself out. It was your choice to keep it and kill it. From the amount of debris on the fish in the pictures, it also looks like you dragged it behind your 4-wheeler as you did donuts in front of your double-wide. What a great outdoorsman you are.
